The research group of Dr. Sebastian Scheich is part of the Frankfurt Cancer Institute (FCI, ) and focuses on aggressive lymphoma biology and signaling. The lab is furthermore funded by grants from Else Krner-Fresenius-Stiftung, "Deutsche Krebshilfe" and "BMBF" and is embedded in a vibrant research environment within the FCI and maintains lively international collaborations. We apply cutting-edge technologies including genome-wide CRISPR/Cas9 screens, quantitative functional proteomics and super resolution microscopy (dSTORM, single molecule tracking, SIM) to dissect oncogenic signaling pathways, study therapy resistance mechanisms and to find novel therapeutic vulnerabilities. We are looking for a highly motivated PhD student to join our team.Your roleThe current research projects are based on a recent publication identifying N-linked glycosylation as a therapeutic target for the treatment of aggressive lymphomas (Scheich et al., Cancer Disc May 4:CD-22-1401; Phelan and Scheich et al. Cancer Cell. 2024 Feb 12;42(2):238-252.e9).Your project will be a follow-up based on preliminary data to mechanistically dissect oncogenic signaling pathways in lymphoma modelsConduction of genome scale CRISPR/Cas9 screens and functional proteomic experiments including posttranslational modification profilingUtilization of cutting-edge imaging modalities including dSTORM, single molecule tracking, structured illumination microscopy (SIM) and proximity ligation assaysIndependent planning, execution and analysis of experiments in the field of lymphoma researchApplication of standard molecular biology and biochemistry methods (tissue culture, flow cytometry, western blotting)Who you areMaster degree or equivalent in molecular medicine, biology, biochemistry or related fieldsSolid hands-on research experience in basic cell biology, biochemistry and molecular biology methodsFascination and motivation for biomedical research in the field of cancer biologyEnthusiasm to learn and implement novel technologiesHigh motivation for experimental lab work, analysis of omics data and data presentationAbility to work in a team, sense of responsibility and proactivityBasic knowledge in MS office (Word, Excel)Fluent EnglishDue to legal regulations, valid proof of measles immunity / measles vaccination is requiredWhat we offerCollective agreement: Salary based on German scale TV-L 13 65 % with additional benefits benefit from long-term security through company pension schemesMobility: Free public transport in all Hessen (Free State Ticket Hessen)Campus: Our attractive university hospital campus offers a modern cafeteria, various cafes, and opportunities to rest in numerous green spaces.
